Check the electoral roll first

Before applying, search the current electoral roll through the Election Commission's official services to see whether your name is already registered and whether the details are correct. Being eligible to vote does not by itself confirm that an entry exists. Avoid submitting duplicate applications without first checking the status and instructions.

Use the form for the situation

Form 6 is used for an application for inclusion as a new elector, subject to current eligibility and document requirements. Other changes or circumstances may require a different form or route. Review the Election Commission's current form and guidance, and enter personal details consistently with the supporting evidence.

Track the application and correct errors

Submit through the official voter services portal or another Election Commission channel and retain the acknowledgement number. Check the application status and verify the final roll entry, especially after a move or name correction. Election schedules and deadlines vary, so consult the current official election information rather than relying on a forwarded date.
